Desert Sky Tours was founded in 2005 by Late Mr. Himmat Singh Rathore (Lala Bana), a name well respected in the tourism circles of Jaisalmer.
Before starting his own venture, he served for many years as a Manager at Narayan Niwas Palace's Jaisal Tours & Safaris Office — the heart of desert tourism in Jaisalmer at the time. Over 39 years in the trade, he built a simple rule into everything the business does: hospitality is not a business, it is a culture.

Himmat Singh Rathore managed the Jaisal Tours & Safaris Office at Narayan Niwas Palace, then the centre of desert tourism in Jaisalmer, building the relationships and route knowledge that would later shape Desert Sky Tours.
